The 75-year-old American actor and former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has urged young bodybuilders to avoid a dangerous mistake: not to get too caught up in using steroids. He discussed this in an interview with Men’s Health.
The actor warned athletes against taking massive doses of steroids and admitted that he himself had used such substances in the past. However, he noted that nowadays, bodybuilders are abusing muscle growth-enhancing substances even more.
“Bodybuilding has always been considered a safe sport, but now it’s not. People are dying from drug overdoses and don’t even know what they’re taking. They listen to charlatans,” he said, recommending that people seek advice from real doctors about any medications.
Schwarzenegger continued, acknowledging that he is not the perfect role model. “Yes, there is a temptation now to make quick money, get rich, become influential. But every time you let your body down, you will regret it. I want young people to know: I’ve seen bodybuilders in need of kidney transplants and suffering,” he warned.
Earlier, Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that he works out every day and plans to live forever. He mentioned that he rides his bike daily and continues to act in films.
